Welding - Job Description 

​

Welders design, fabricate and join metal fixtures and structures by using various welding techniques.

 

Essential Functions:

​

Welders will be required to:

​

• Operate tools such as arc welders, grinders and buffing machines

• Select, load and install correct tooling (installing torch tips, filler rods and flux according to metal thickness)

• Lay out, measure and align metal workpieces prior to welding

• Determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces

• Perform quality inspections of parts to produce products that exceed customer's expectations

• Stage completed product on skids

• Work from live schedule, verbal and written instruction, bills of material, routers, blue prints and control plans

• Act responsibly to follow safe operating practices including ensuring operation of gas and non-gas welding equipment is compliant with safety guidelines.

• Maintain excellent attendance record

• Flexible to perform overtime duties and adjust schedule when required

• Able to work within a team environment

Qualifications:

• 2+ years welding experience with knowledge of welding techniques (electric arc, and TIG, MIG), tools and equipment

• Skills in the fabrication, joining and repair of variety of metal objects, fixtures, equipment & structures

• Dimensional measuring and shop math competence

• Capable of using calipers, micrometers, tape measures and other measuring tools

• Ability to read and understand blueprints

• Capable of operating drill presses, power saws, grinders, welding equipment & hand tools

 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, hazardous materials and intense noise.

Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel.

• The position requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are usually less than 1 pound and sometimes up to 50 pounds or heavier.

• Welders may work in conditions of restricted movemnt

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Hours and schedule may vary according to the shift and customer requirements.
